Katie Holmes has canceled what would have been her first scheduled public appearance since filing for divorce from Tom Cruise on June 28.
She had planned to hit the red carpet for the Dizzy Feet Foundation gala, as well as attend an event for the foundation in L.A. today, but she reportedly pulled out at the last minute.

“Katie was really excited about attending the event, but in the end, her security team had concerns about the situation, especially the daytime event given it was being held in a public park,” a source close to the situation told Celebuzz.
The Dizzy Feet Foundation promotes dance education across the United States, and Katie started it three years ago along with Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman and Carrie Ann Inaba.

“The organizers had beefed up security but even after doing all of that, the decision was made because her team couldn’t guarantee Katie’s safety,” said the source, who added that no specific threats were made against Katie.
