So the rumors could in fact be true. Deadline.com is reporting that Mariah Carey is FINALIZING a deal to be the next American Idol judge. And from what it sounds like MC will be receiving the biggest paycheck for talent on a reality series (yes beating out rival Jennifer Lopez!) if she signs on the dotted line. How does $17 million sound?
Rumors have been swirling for quite some time that Mariah could be the new judge on Idol but Nick Cannon, her hubby, threw me for a big loop when he said Idol could never pay Mariah enough for what she is worth. And while I totally agree, $17 mil and a platform for promoting her new album sounds pretty freakin’ worth it to me.
Ratings have been sucking it up the past couple of seasons and while Idol could be on its last leg, Mariah could bring in some major ratings with her expertise and divadom. I think if they can’t pull in ratings with Mariah then this show is doomed and done for good.
You know damn well I’ll be watching!
