According to multiple reports, Taylor Swift has a lot of reasons to be sad these days as her parents are getting a divorce.
In fact, when the 22-year-old country singer was recently asked to describe the mood of the song lyrics on her next album, she responded: “They’re sad, if I’m being honest.”
The latest issue of Star magazine is reporting that Taylor’s parents Andrea and Scott Swift have split after 25 years of marriage, with sources close to Taylor admitting the split is taking a toll on her.
“She’s been going through a lot,” a family friend reveals. “The new album will showcase the pain of her parents’ separation.”
The insider adds that Taylor’s mom and dad actually split a while back — sometime within the last two years but were trying to keep their marital problems private. “The Swifts stopped wearing their wedding rings,” continues the source. “They haven’t filed for divorce because they don’t want it to damage Taylor’s career.”
Even worse for Taylor, her successful career and busy concert schedule may have played a role in her parent’s divorce.
“Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott,” says the source. “Taylor’s dad travels with them a lot less than he used to.”
