Sometimes, it's difficult being a celebrity who is friends with talk show hosts. Eva Longoria found that out the hard way when she went to visit Mario Lopez on the set of Extra Thursday.
Though they were there to talk about Longoria's speech at the Democratic National Convention, Lopez first wanted to set the record straight about a rumor he'd seen involving Longoria. The New York Post had a headline claiming that she and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez were "celebrating," and he wanted to give his good friend a podium to clarify that she and Sanchez were just buds. That's likely why he was so surprised when she blushed and called him an "a--hole."
“Mark and I are, you know, fine," Longoria admits in the above video. "We're happy just dating.”
The Desperate Housewives star (who split from Eduardo Cruz this summer) is a big sports fan, so it's no surprise that she fell for a quarterback. Especially since she's a big supporter of the Jets this year.
"I'm a big fan of the Jets because they have the best center in the NFL, Nick Mangold," Longoria says, all business.
Lopez's response (and what we were thinking, too!): "Don't get all ESPN on me!"
Longoria might have found love in real life, but she's also helping average Americans find it on television. Her new reality dating show Ready for Love debuts on NBC this winter, and the 37-year-old caught up with iVillage last month to tell us how she thinks contestants can actually find true love on a dating show.
"With our format, I think so," she said. "The Bachelor is kind of weird because people go on that show not even knowing who the bachelor is until you show up in the limo. That’s just fundamentally odd. With that basic creative piece, our show is a little more authentic."
