KATY Perry and John Mayer enjoyed a post VMA night out on Thursday.
The pair — who were recently rumored to have split, but are now believed to still be going strong — turned up fashionably late at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the 5th Annual House of Hype Power Players dinner.
The duo arrived at the event around 11 p.m. with a protective entourage of about 10 people in tow. They even stationed friends in between them as they entered the event so that they couldn’t be photographed together. Immediately upon arrival, they were bombarded by a flurry of paps, cameras and reporters but were quickly whisked away through the crowd.
The 27-year-old pop star and her 34-year-old companion got the party started, opting out of the dinner which was honoring DJ Kaskade and entered the ballroom for the after party which had not even begun.
Sources say that inside the event, “they were really cute” but “it seemed like they didn’t want much attention.”
The secretive couple didn’t stick around long, and they disappeared into a private area inside the Beverly Hills Hotel shortly after the event began.
Katy’s divorce from Russell Brand was made official last month, ending their 14-month marriage.
Since splitting from Russell in December 2011, the star has been linked to male model Baptiste Giabiconi and Florence And The Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd, while the comedian has moved on with actress Isabella Brewster.
Perry’s family were recently said to be concerned she’s dating Mayer.
“John has a big reputation as a serial womanizer. If people thought her ex, Russell Brand, was bad, John is notoriously a lot worse,” a source said.
“Katy’s friends are worried this is just a rebound bit of fun but will end with her getting really hurt.”
Katy recently revealed she’d quite like to be courted.
“I’m a woman who likes to be courted, strongly. Never say never, I guess you’d say. I’ll let love take the lead on that,” she said.
