He can see clearly now! Well, almost.
The San Diego Zoo’s giant panda cub, after first opening his eyes (and giving a little wave) last month, has some good news to share: He’s opened his eyes all the way.
The 9-week-old panda received a clean bill of health during his exam this week, staying calm while veterinarians and keepers checked him out.
The male cub, born to mother Bai Yun, is growing well and has started to vocalize, another important development.
With his eyes now fully open, the panda cub has become more alert and as his sight improves, he will become more aware of his surroundings.
Another big milestone to look forward to: after his 100th day, the cub will get a name.
