Sometimes, the most impulsive decisions lead to the coolest moments. And so a few days before Paris Fashion Week opened its doors, I decided to hit Paris with my camera crew (yes yes, I’m being followed). We had no invites, no backstage passes, just a lot of enthusiasm and persistence.
The schedule was heavy: Up by 4.30am, taking the Thalys, so we could be at the doors of Chanel by 9H30. After Chanel, they arranged me a cosy lunch with Belgian fashion expert Veerle Windels @ Le Louvre. Then playing paparazzi at Valentino’s, to end the day with some die-hard beauty-shopping.
My plan was to shoot as many interesting people as possible. Famous, not famous, whatever. People who stand out. That’s what I wanted.
Now, the Chanel frontstage kinda disappointed me. I almost found myself at a funeral: So much people in black and grey, with big black glasses and a harsh facial expressions. I felt like shouting: ” Lighten up, people, it’s just fashion!”
At Valentino’s, on the other hand, the atmosphere was relaxed and people were colourful, but still (mostly) in a tight-kinda- way. It could have something to do with the weather, ’cause the sun was turning Paris into the perfect scene for an indian summer.
Now, to give you a better view on the things I’ve seen in these Parisian streets on a fashionable day, I split my pictures into 6 categories:
1. Ubertrend: Colourful lips
2. Ubertrend 2: Braids & Buns
3. Age appropriate
4. Those who are and those who wannabe
5. The models
6. The celebrities
