Russell Crowe has reason to feel les miserables .
The 48-year-old actor has seperated from his wife of nine years, Danille Spencer, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Sunday.
Crowe’s busy work schedule - the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised actor is currently busy filming Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah” - is at the root of the split, according to the report.

The Oscar-winner first met and started dating Spencer 22 years ago on the set of 1990’s “The Crossing,” before he ascended into the Hollywood A-list.

Danielle Spencer and Russell Crowe have a long history that culminated with a 2003 marriage.
Crowe moved onto a highly visible relationship with actress Meg Ryan, but later rekindled his relationship with Spencer.
“The thought [of marrying her] crossed my mind the first time I met her," he told the Morning Herald at the time of their 2003 wedding.
The “Gladiator” star and his bride tied the knot at a chapel on Crowe’s farm in Australia’s New South Wales.

The couple has two young children together, Charles,8, and Tennyson, 6 - who are staying in Syndey with their mother.
Though Spencer is virtually unknown on this side of the Pacific, the 43-year-old stunner caused a gossip uproar in Australia in June when she was photographed out on the town with her dance pro partner from that country’s version of “Dancing With the Stars.”
The couple dismissed talk of any infidelity, but Crowe hasn’t been around much in recent months. He has a pair of movies coming out this year - the martial arts adventure, “The Man With the Iron Fists” and the musical epic, “Les Miserables.”
