Justin Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mal-lette, has revealed her fears about being a celebrity mom and said she hopes the teenage star does not make the same mistakes she has in life.

Speaking to NBC’s Today program on the eve of Bieber’s appearance on Saturday Night Live, she said: “It’s tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes that they need to make.

“I have to trust that he’s made good decisions in the past and hopefully he’s learned from some of my mistakes.” She also admitted she and her son were nervous as the Baby singer gets set to appear as both host and musical guest of SNL.

Mallette also spoke about the antiabortion short film she is executive-producing entitled Crescendo, which focuses on Ludwig van Beethoven’s mother and her reported attempts to have the famous composer aborted. She hopes the movie will raise money for “pregnancy centres” that provide alternatives to abortion – and helped her when she was expecting Justin.

“I’m not trying to make a political stance,” said Mallette, who has written a biography called Nowhere But Up.

“I’m just here to help the girls find a place to stay when they’re pregnant and it really helped save my life.”
