Is it safe to say that this week was the biggest one for the sneaker world so far in 2013? The 2013 NBA All-Star loomed large over the headlines this week between the multitudinous Nike Sportswear and Nike Basketball sneaks. On top of that, Jordan Brand made their presence down in Houston very much known by pulling out a whole horde of unseen Air Jordan XX8 colorways. The Jordan category also saw a bit more lip service than normal this week thanks to Michael Jordan’s upcoming 50th birthday (which coincided with his 50th Sports Illustrated cover). Penny Hardaway posted up a brand new Nike Air Foamposite One colorway and we were reminded once again of the massive Nike Hyperflight ‘Hero Pack’ that’s on its way.
The celebrity set pulled out plenty of far-ranging pairs this week, from Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals pairs to unreleased Air Jordan colorways to the upcoming Reebok Shaq Attaq retro. Nike Sportswear proved that they’ve been plenty busy between the massive Air Max ‘Home Turf’ series, some exciting new Roshe Run ‘split colorways’, and the return of the Nike Air Huarache. Adidas also blew us away with the surprise arrival of their new BOOST running system which they’ve promised will change the running footwear game forever. The Reebok DMX Run continued to tease us with its impending arrival, this time in the form of an SNS collab. Ronnie Fieg’s latest Asics reared its head, Big Sean gave us the inside scoop on his adidas partnership, and we took a moment to reflect on the NBA-wide sneaker wears now that we’re at the halfway mark for the 2013 season. Stay tuned after the jump for the only recap you’ll need for this massive week at Sneaker News and check back at the same time next week for all the newest footwear info you’ll ever need.
