Three dinners… No pictures « Skinny Kids Suck, Eat More Cake

Hi again foodie friends! I have been out and about a lot since I last wrote in November, but I want to highlight three dinners at three different restaurants that I have had since mid-January.

The first place I want to mention is Eddie’s Pizzeria Cerino in Seven Hills, Ohio, which is owned by the locally famous Cerino family. I had the best Veal Piccata that I have ever had in Cleveland. The veal was great, but what made the dish stand out was the piccata sauce. I don’t know why it was better than every other place, but it was. My fiancé, Jenny, had the Lemon Parmesan Chicken, which was also amazing. I would like to say the next time I go I might try something else, but the meals we had were so good I might just get them again! The restaurant was celebrating an anniversary, so they had Cassata Cake for $1 a slice- might have been the best cassata cake I’ve ever had, as well. The atmosphere at Eddie’s Pizzeria Cerino was charming. Exposed brick walls, comfortable booths, open kitchen, and art by local artists hanging on the walls. I definitely recommend checking it out.

The second restaurant I want to mention is Fahrenheit in historic Tremont, owned by celebrity Chef Rocco Whalen. It is small but comfortable inside, with dark wood tables and chairs, and deep rich colors on the walls. I had the special- squid ink pasta with scallops and tiger shrimp. The pasta was jet black (from the squid ink), and had a very unique flavor, which was enhanced by the pesto on it. The tiger shrimp were big, and they didn’t skimp; I had maybe 7-8 on my plate. It was a very good dinner, and I will certainly be going back!

Lastly, I want to mention the Black Pig in Ohio City. A big group of us went, and had a wonderful time. The table we sat at was beautifully crafted from reclaimed hard wood. The large windows were nice, as well as, the exposed brick walls and open kitchen. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu, and was able to explain some of the foods that aren’t common to most people’s kitchens. We started with multiple salads, mussels, braised rabbit stew, and pork belly over hash and squash purée. I really enjoyed the simple salad, which had baby lettuce, radish, and lemon vinaigrette. I also thought the braised rabbit was delicious, but nothing compared to the pork belly! I had a dream about the pork belly last night, because it was that good! I split the scallops and roasted chicken with Jenny. The scallops were huge, and they gave you five with the entrée; more than any other restaurant I’ve been to recently. They were prepared perfectly and placed over a truffle risotto with wild mushrooms- to die for! The roasted chicken was also very good; my favorite part was the jus, which was great for dipping the chicken. A couple hours and glasses of wine later, our dinner was over, and I sadly left one of the best meals I ever had. It won’t be long before I am back at the Black Pig.

Thanks for reading! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
