Sofia Vergara has responded to allegations that she wants to destroy the frozen embryous she created with ex-fiance Nick Loeb. The pair split last May, and the actress is currently engaged to Joe Manganiello.
The "Modern Family" star's attorney Fred Silberberg told People in a statement: "The claims made against Sofia Vergara by Nick Loeb are uncredible and hold no merit. Vergara has never wanted to destroy her embryos."
Vergara, 42, and Loeb, 39, signed a contract in 2013 after the embryos were created. It states that "no unilateral action can be taken with regard to the embryos unless both parties consent."
The attorney's statement continues: "She has always maintained that they be kept frozen, a fact of which Loeb and his counsel have always been aware, despite Loeb's statements to the contrary."
In conclusion, "Vergara, who has happily moved on with her life, is content to leave the embryos frozen indefinitely as she has no desire to have children with her ex, which should be understandable given the circumstances."
Vergara has been open about her desire to potentially have children with Manganiello.
In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, Vergara says Manganiello begged her "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson for her phone number as soon as she announced her split from Loeb.
"The day that I sent the press release (about her split), Joe immediately contacted Jesse Tyler Ferguson, like, 'Please, please, please tell her I want her number.'"
Sofia said Ferguson spent two days convincing her to give the former True Blood star her number.
"I'm like, 'OK, give him my number.' I'm thinking, 'I'm in New Orleans shooting, and he's in L.A. -- nothing's going to happen.'
"But we started talking a lot, and then he showed up in New Orleans," she says. "Since then we've been inseparable."
