Taking matters into her own hands when it came to selecting someone to honor her mother in a biopic, Angelina Jolie will play Marcheline Bertrand in an upcoming film.
Produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B company, the movie will follow the late actress who devoted herself to humanitarian causes before dying from cancer in 2007.
At age 21, Marcheline married the "Tomb Raider" star's famous father John Voight, and later gave birth to James and Angelina. However, the couple split when their daughter was only about a year old.
After she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the late '90s, Ms. Bertrand founded the Give Love Give Life organization to raise awareness of ovarian and other gynecological cancers through music. The biopic tribute will start production next year.
